4th of July July 16, 2008

This is a little late but we had a great 4th of July weekend.  On Thursday night, Brad, Carter and I went to the Braves game.  We left Cammie with the grandparents because she would’ve hated the game.  Well, we thought Carter would love it but we were wrong!  An hour after we got there, we were leaving.  Luckily we had free tickets and parking so we didn’t lose much.  We decided to leave the game so we could go watch the fireworks by our house.

On Friday morning we went to the 4th of July Steam Engine Parade.  I wasn’t sure if it was going to be much fun but I was really surprised at how great it was.  The kids loved all the engines and the people throwing candy.  We got so much candy that it was like Halloween.  The kids had to wear ear plugs because the engines were SO loud.  We had a wonderful time and might have found our families 4th of July tradition!

That night we had a few friends over for a cookout and firework show.  It was a lot of fun!  Then on Saturday we went to the pool with the Wyatt’s.  It was a great weekend!!

Here is the link to my web album, there are videos from the parade posted on it:

Carter the “Wedding Bell Ringer” June 23, 2008

A few weeks ago, Carter was in our friend Laura’s wedding.  He wasn’t the traditional ring bearer but he was the bell ringer.  His job was to walk down right before the bride and ring a bell while shouting “The Bride is Coming!”.  He did SUCH a good job!  We were SO proud of him.  It was really cute!

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY! June 21, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — Cory @ 9:16 pm

Last Sunday was Father’s day.  We woke Brad up with Biscuits and chocolate gravy (a Kentucky favorite).  He was SO excited when he saw us with his favorite breakfast! The kids sang “Happy Father’s day to you” and we gave him his gifts.   His favorite thing we gave him was the Pete Sampras Autobiography.  That boy loves him some Pete Sampras!!  He barely set the book down all day.  I was SO happy to finally get something that surprised him!

We went to church and afterwards had lunch at Atkins Park with my parents.  We took lots of pictures out in the courtyard in Vickery Village.  It is a very unique shopping center in the middle of a beautiful neighborhood.  It’s also where our YMCA is located.  We are in LOVE with that neighborhood!  It’s where we want to live after this house.

Thank you Brad for being the best father for our kids.  You are the most fun, caring, loving, silly, creative and protective dad.   I know that you would do ANYTHING for Carter and Cammie.    Thank you for all the sacrifices you have made for our family.  You have made a wonderful life for our family.  Thank you for being the spiritual leader of our family, you are such a good example for our children.  Carter and Cammie are so blessed to have such a loving dad.  We love you SO much!!!!

Carter’s 4th Birthday June 11, 2008

Last Wednesday, Carter turned 4!!  Can you believe it??  WE can’t!  He has turned into such a big boy and he knows it. :)   We are SO proud of what a good, sweet, fun, loving and smart boy he has become.

We had a train party on Saturday.  All his buddies came to celebrate with us.  Brad set up trains all over the house for them to play with.  The party was a big success!  I had fun planning and making the cake, cupcakes and train cookies.  I just LOVE party planning!  :)  Carter is SO happy to be 4 years old.  He thinks he is SO big now.  What a special celebration for a special boy!!

Here are some of the pictures from the big day!

May Update May 21, 2008

Well it’s been a busy month for us!  I’ve been meaning to update the blog for a while now.  So, I thought I would just make myself sit down and do it!  Here it goes:

The first weekend in May I was lucky enough to go on a girls weekend!  A group of my friends from church went to Destin, FL.  We had SO much fun!!  There was lots of shopping, eating, laughing, movies and fun!  Not much beach time because of the weather.  I think everyone was just happy to get away for a while and have some girl time!  Thanks to Brad and all the daddys for keeping the kids for 4 days!  It gave us some new energy to keep up with the kiddos!

The following weekend was Mother’s day.  Carter’s school had a Mother’s Day tea to honor the mom’s.  It was a lot of fun, they had food for us and Carter gave me some sweet handmade gifts.  It was really special!  On Mother’s day we had lunch at my parents house.  It was a great day!

A few weeks ago we had a big playdate with Carter’s best buddies.  Owen is Carter’s most bestest friend in the whole world.  They have been inseperable since birth!  They really do love each other!  Then there is Luke who was Carter’s best friend in his class at school.  All Carter could talk about was “Luke this..” or “Luke that..” when I picked him up every day.  So I thought it was about time to get all the best friends together at our house.  What a success that was!  The three of them were like peas in a pod.  They had so much fun together playing and laughing.  Carter couldn’t believe that they were both at his house together!  We are planning more get togethers for the Summer.

Last week was the end of the school year for Carter.  He has officially graduated from the 3 year old class.  He is SO excited to be in the 4 year olds class!  His class had a big pizza and ice cream party on Wednesday.  Both of the teachers cried when they told me how much they are going to miss Carter.  They were the best teachers I could have asked for him to have for his first year.  On Thursday night, the school had a big “End of the Year Program”.  Carter’s class sang a few songs and were SO cute!  He really got into the last song.  We were so proud of him!  He is such a joy to our lives!

I can’t leave little Cammie out!  She’s been up to a lot these days.  What a little personality she’s getting!  Can you say “DIVA”???  Oh my goodness!!  What happened to the little quiet, non crying, sweet little thing.  Don’t get me wrong, she’s still sweet but the sassy might be a little more these days! HA!!  I guess it’s a girl thing!  Anyways, she’s just been having fun going along on all of Carter’s events.  She does love her bubby (a.k.a. Carter).  We’re just having fun watching her grow and learn!  Her Sunday school teacher said that she was the rocket scientist of the class!  I couldn’t get over that!  It’s hard to compare her to Carter because he has always been the brainiac.  But we were so happy to hear that someone saw that she was smart too!  Yeah Cammie!  Maybe you can get through school a little easier than your mommy!!

Last Saturday we had a big service day at our church.  There were about 9 projects going on all around Atlanta.  Many worked in a single mom’s home, a home for women, the church grounds, nursing home, and feeding the homeless.  I was blessed to be the historian of the events so I got to see everyone in action!  What a blessing that day was to everyone who participated!  We are so blessed to be part of such a wonderful, loving and serving church home!  Carter and Brad worked really hard in the dirt and rocks.  Brad is still sore!  Carter kept saying “I love serving God!”.  I know God was smiling down on him. :)

It’s been a great month of celebrating and serving!  Hope you enjoyed the update!  We love you all!  Here is a link to more pics:

Our little Talker April 25, 2008

Just thought I would post a video of Cammie talking.  She can really say a lot of words now.  It’s amazing how her vocabulary has grown in the past month.  It’s so cute when she says the word “Sprinkles”.  Enjoy!

Also, here is a video of the kids singing the “ABC SONG”.  Cammie is starting to get it.  Carter could sing the song perfect by like 18 months.  But, he was OBSESSED with the alphabet.  It’s just not Cammie’s thing! :)

Wild Wild West Day April 25, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — Cory @ 5:10 am

Today was the big end of the year party at Carter’s school.  It was so much fun!  They set up all kinds of fun at the school.  There were lots of inflattible moonwalks and slides.  They had facepainting, panning for gold, a petting zoo, hayrides, and other games.   There was also a bookfair where we bought Carter our favorite book “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”.  Does anyone remember that book??  Brad and I loved it when we were kids.  Anyways, the kids had a great time at the party.  It was a wonderful time to celebrate a great school year.  We are so blessed to have found this school.  The teachers and everyone there are so special.  They truly love children and love the Lord!  I feel so happy to know that he is in such good and loving care there!  Cammie is going to love going there next year!

Didn’t the girls way outshine the boys??!! :) Work it girl!! :)

Last weekend Brad and I chaperoned for our youth group’s Tacky Prom.  It was so much fun!  Ashley and I were in charge of decorations so we cheesed it up for them.  I set up my camera on a tripod and let them all pose funny for pictures.  It was SO much fun to dress up tacky!  My dress was SO awesome.  I can’t wait to wear it again!!  HA!!  Ashley looked hilarious with her blue bridesmaid dress and dyeable shoes!!  We had a great time!  Oh, to be young again! :)

When Ma and Pa Came to Town… April 12, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — Cory @ 8:43 pm

Brad’s parents, Mark and Carol or as we like to call them “Ma and Pa”, came to town last week.  I know their nicknames sound a Little House on the Prairieish!  When Carter was little he couldn’t say Grandma and Grandpa so he called them Ma and Pa and it stuck.  Well, when they were here Carter told them that he wanted to call them Grandma and Grandpa but he couldn’t stick with it.  I think it’s too late to change! :)   I like calling them Ma and Pa because it’s what Carter named them.  I think they like it too!

Well, we had a great time when they were here.  We went to downtown to have lunch with Brad one day.  We also went to the park and the outlet mall.  Most of the time we just hung out around the house playing trains and dress-up.  The weather was pretty yucky the whole time.  Of course we hit the new Wal-Mart and the grandparents spoiled the kids.  Carter got lots of new trains, Cammie got some dress-up clothes and they both got some dvd’s.  The checkout lady said “Looks like the grandparents came to town!!”.  The kids were in heaven and Carter said “Ma and Pa love me TOO much!!”.  :)

Ma and Pa–we had a great time with you!  Thanks for coming to visit us!  Also, thanks for letting Brad and I get a date in while you were here!!  We love you!
