Best Buds July 24, 2007

Carter and Cammie have become quiet the best buds.  They are always playing with each other and laughing together.  Wherever one goes, the other goes!  Sometimes that’s not a good thing because they always want what the other is playing with.  Right now, the toy that causes the most problems is the walker/rider.  Carter used to care less about it but now that Cammie loves it he loves it too!  I’ve had to put it up a few times to end the drama.  They are never mean about it, they just fuss.  Carter is always really sweet with Cammie but sometimes a little too sweet.  He loves to hug on her and sometimes ends up smothering her.  But, for the most part, they are really good friends.

Yesterday was Cammie’s one year check-up.  She weighed in at 24 pounds which was lighter than I had expected.  She’s now only in the 87th percentile when she was in the 98th.  She is 30.5″ tall and in the 85th percentile for height.  So, she’s just a big girl!  They had to give her three shots and she barely cried.  Carter would still be crying if it were him getting the shots!!  The doctor put her on the floor to stand and she took a couple steps towards me because she was afraid I would leave.  Those were her first real steps!  Kind of funny it was at the Dr’s office!  Overall, she is a very healthy and happy baby.

A few weeks ago, my brother and his family were in town.  His son Caleb, is two months older than Cammie.  Mary Beth, Casey’s wife, made them matching outfits with their monnograms on them.  They are SO adorable!  We had to buy Carter a coordinating outfit to go with them.  During the week that they were here we bought them two more sets of matching outfits to wear on our trip to Hilton Head in September.  They look so cute in them!!  Someday they will hate us for making them wear the same clothes all the time!  Hopefully we will stop making them match by the time they go off to college.  That would be kind of be weird wearing matching clothes at Harding!!

Many of you know about Carter’s OBSESSION with electric outlets.  It’s kind of crazy and definately a little weird.  A few months ago he starting talking about them and looking for them everywhere we would go.  He knows not to touch them because he stuck his finger in one and got a little shock.  Well, it has overtaken his life!  He has a collection of outlets, cords and phone jacks.  Lowes has now become his favorite store.  You should see him on the electric outlet aisle.  It’s like heaven to him!  He has always had a few weird interests.  But, trains are still at the top of the list which makes me feel like he is a normal kid! :)

This summer we have been taking Carter to gymnastics class.  For a while now, he has been able to do a perfect sommersault.  I thought that was a sign that we should put him in a class.  His best buddy Owen was in his class too.  He has had so much fun!  He loves the balance beam and vault.  They also let them swing on the uneven bars.  Today I went to watch him on his last day of class.  Here are some pics and videos of his last day in gymnastics class.

HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY CAMMIE!!! July 10, 2007

I can’t even believe our little girl is turning one!!  It’s crazy how fast this year has flown by.  It seems like yesterday Brad and I were headed down to the hospital to have our baby girl.  What a year it has been!  We couldn’t even imagine a sweeter little girl.  Cammie has blessed our lives beyond our imagination.  She is the happiest, cutest, funniest and sweetest little princess.  Every day that we have with her is a blessing from God.  We are so thankful that she was gifted to us!

Well, we had the big first Birthday party on Saturday.  It was so much fun!   I ended up going a little, well o.k, a lot over the top!  I couldn’t help myself.  I had to make it a party fit for a princess!!  We had a great time with all of our family and friends.  Cammie loved having all attention on her!  I think her favorite part of the night was when we sang Happy Birthday to her.  She was glowing!!  Cake was probably the second best for her.  She ate it very lady like and not quite as messy as her big brother did on his first.  At the end, we had a pinata and the kids went crazy when the candy flew everywhere.  They didn’t know what to do!  It was so cute.  All, in all it was a wonderful celebration for our sweet little princess Cammie!!

                                                           HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAM-CAM!!!

4th of July and Train Museum July 10, 2007

Last week was a great week.  Brad’s parents, Ma and Pa, were in town for Cammie’s birthday party.  We had a wonderful 4th of July with them.  My brother and his family were in town as well.  We celebrated with everyone at our church building.  There was yummy watermelon and homemade ice cream and lots of family and friends.  Afterwards, Brad put on a fireworks show for us.  He LOVES fireworks!  After trying to do three bottle rockets at once, he burnt his hand and now has a battle wound.  :) He turns into a little kid on the 4th of July!!

The next day we went to the Southeastern Railway Museum.  Carter loved seeing all of the old trains.  It was like seeing all of his toy trains in life size!  I really enjoyed walking through all of the old coach cars and seeing where people would sleep and eat.  They have a train ride but for some reason Carter would not get on.  We couldn’t convince him to go so we stayed and waved to all the other kids that went.  Of course Carter had to hit the gift shop and get some stuff thanks to his Ma and Pa!  It was a fun day with the grandparents!
