Let the Learning Begin!! August 31, 2007

Today I took Carter to see his new preschool and meet his teachers.  He has been talking about going to preschool for months!  We are taking him to the First Baptist of Cumming Preschool.  I looked around at several different schools and it was by far the best.  We were very lucky to get him in because they have a big wait list.  I just happened to get his name in at the right time!

His teachers names are Ms. Stephanie and Ms. Jennifer.  They are so sweet and friendly.  They already told Carter what a smart boy he is!  He had to tell them all about his electrical outlets.  They had never heard of a three year old having such a fascination with outlets and plugs.  We had such a good time meeting new friends and their parents.  Brad was so sad that he couldn’t go today but he is in NYC for the US Open tournament.  He will be going on Carter’s first day of school next week.  When open house was over, Carter didn’t want to leave!  I guess he won’t be one of the ones crying when he gets dropped off!!  We had to buy him a new sweatshirt with his school logo–he was SO proud to wear it, even though it was hot outside!!  We can’t wait for next Wednesday to get here!  I will post pics of his first day in school.  Our boy is growing up WAY too fast!

Walk On, Girl!! August 29, 2007

This week has been a big week for our Cammie.  She is taking steps on her own!!  You can tell she is so proud of herself when she walks.  Sometimes I catch her really trying hard at walking, then she’ll notice me and get all excited which makes her fall.  We have also recently found out that she is quite the little dancer.  Anytime music comes on, she automatically starts shaking.  It’s one of the cutest things I’ve ever seen.  Sometimes she gets really into it and she has this serious look on her face.  It’s hillarious!  I’ve tried to get a video of her dancing but she always stops.  I’ll keep trying.

I have included some pics of us at the carnival we helped host this weekend.  All the benefits went to our friends granddaughter Ava.  She had a heart transplant when she was three months old.  Cammie is only two days older than her.  Well, the carnival was a HUGE success!  We were hoping to raise $10,000 and we ended up raising over $18,000!!  It was a wonderful day!  God is good!!! :)

Here is a video of Cammie taking a few steps. :)

In a Word–”Unique”!! August 29, 2007

If I could use one word to describe our Carter, it would be “unique”.  He has THE most unique and weird interests I’ve ever known a child to have.  I know that I have written about his love for all things electrical.  His favorite thing in life right now is the electric outlet aisle at Lowes.  It’s like his toy store!  Whenever we go there, people just think it’s so funny to see a little boy so enthralled by the outlets and light switches.  He has been saving his money up to by a GFCI outlet (the one with the buttons) and last week we found one on sale.  They are usually about $13 and we got one for $7.  He was so happy!  While we were at Home Depot he found a home improvement book called Wiring 123.  It is now the book that he has to take everywhere we go.  It has pics of all kinds of outlets and wires.  He still knows that he can’t touch real outlets.  We told him he can plug things in when he is ten.  He can’t wait to be ten!!  :)

One of Carter’s favorite songs to sing is “Roll the Gospel Chariot”.  This is a video of him singing it and you will notice that he dosen’t quite get the words right.  He used to say “Roll the gospen charion awong” and he can finally say the word “gospel”.  He also has a funny moment where he yells at me to stop singing.  He likes the spotlight only on him!!  I wonder where he gets that from??!! :)

Carter and Mommy ready for the showMommy and Carter ready for our big day out!!

Last Saturday, Carter and I had a fun day.  We went downtown to see Thomas Live on Stage with his best buddy, Owen and his mommy, Laureen.  Daddy stayed home with Cam-cam.  The show was at the Symphony Hall.  We had lunch at their favorite place, Chick-Fil-A, before the big show.  The boys LOVED seeing Thomas and his friends in life size.  It was such a great show!  The songs were ones that we knew from all the DVD’s.  Carter and I were singing along!  The boys loved being there together.  They really are best buddys.  Here are some pics that Laureen took with her cell phone.  The tickets said that cameras were “strictly prohibitted” so we left them at home but when we got there, everyone had their cameras!  I guess sometimes it doesn’t pay off to obey the rules!  What a great day we had just mommy and son!! :)

HELP! I’m Addicted to My Camera!!! August 16, 2007

Well, here are more pics of the kiddos.  I’m sure you are surprised that I took some.  I have been meaning to drag the camera out and snap a few.  HA!!  Brad is seriously considering putting me in rehab for photographers anonymous. :)  I just can’t help myself when the kids are so fun to photograph.  I’m so bad that if there are other kids around, I will make them strike a pose too!  Last night at church I got some great pics of Carter, Cammie and Camp.  They are some of the cutest ones I’ve taken in a while.  They are both smiling!  Miracle!!  They probably think they are super models because there is always in camera in their face! :)   Oh well, they will thank me someday when they have so many to look back on.

I wanted to share a video with all of you about a little baby named Ava.  She is a week younger than Cammie but her life is SO much different.  She was born with a major heart defect and at three months she had a heart transplant.  Ava has had to deal with so much and she will never be completely well. The video is very touching and made me cry just thinking that this could’ve been Cammie.   Our young marrieds life group at Grace Chapel is hosting a carnival in her honor.  All the proceeds we raise will go to her family to cover the astronomical medical bills.  If you would like to make a donation, please let me know and I can get you the information.

Our Little Pirate August 8, 2007

Today we took Carter to the eye doctor for a follow up appointment.  The doctor said that he has good vision and allignment in both eyes but he is favoring his left eye.  He is afraid that if he doesn’t start using his right eye more, he could lose some of the vision in that eye.  So, for the next couple of months, Carter will have to wear an eye patch over his left eye for two hours a day.  I was so glad that he doesn’t have to wear it all day.  We put it on for an hour today and he HATED it at first!!  By the end of the hour he forgot all about it.  I bribed him with a new train if he keeps it on.  That always works!!  He went to the bathroom, looked in the mirror and said he looks like Captain Feathersword from The Wiggles.  He’s our little pirate!

Cammie is on the verge of walking.  She loves to cruise around the couches and coffee table.  She lets go and stands for a long time then decides that she can’t do it.  I feel like she will be taking some steps any day now.

Here is a video of Carter doing sommersaults and Cammie blowing kisses.

Boo-boo’s and Bath Time August 7, 2007

Last Saturday we babysat for our friends, Rocky and Ashley.  Their son Camp is a month older than Cammie and they are best buds.  We had so much fun playing with him.  He just started walking and he is everywhere!  I don’t think he sat down for more than 5 minutes. :)   After dinner, we gave all three of the kids a bath.  They were so cute splashing and laughing together.

On Sunday, Cammie got her first black eye. :( It was SO sad!  She was pulling up on the toy cabinet during Bible class and just lost her balance and hit the edge really hard.  I was pretty upset because it looked really bad.  You should have seen the tears!  She has the saddest cry I have ever heard.  We took her home and got her some ibuprofren and she started feeling a lot better.  Brad and I said she looked like Mike Tyson because it looked like she got in a fight. :)  Her eye looks a lot better today and it doesn’t seem to bother her.  We have definately gotten used to accidents seeing as we have been to the emergency room several times with Carter for stitches.

Everything else is going great with our family.  We are just getting ready for pre-school in a few weeks.  It will be really good for Carter to be in a learning environment.  He is getting bored at home.  I’m also ready to spend some quality time with my Cammie girl!  We are also getting excited about our trip to Hilton Head in September with all of my family.  It will be Cammie’s first trip to the beach!  Hope you are all doing well.  Take care!
