Well, it looks like our little guy has himself a girlfriend!!  The BMOC (big man on campus) already!!  Way to go!  Brad says he’s taking after his old man.  HA!!  The fact that I was Brad’s first REAL girlfriend (which was in college) shows that his son is already WAY ahead of him!  :)

Her name is Laini and she is in his preschool class.  When we got back from Hilton Head her mom, Kimberly, e-mailed me and told me that Laini was talking about Carter.  She told her ”Carter is the coolest boy!”.  So, we asked Carter about her and the instant we said her name he got this silly little grin on his face.  It was so cute!  You could tell that he liked her.  Ever since then, Laini is the only person he talks about.  He always tells me that they play trains together.  A girl who knows her way to his heart!!

I was at the school for a meeting and looked in his classroom and they were sitting by each other.  Kimberly e-mailed me again on Monday telling me a cute story that she heard from the teachers.  They said that they were playing “Simon Says” and they said “Simon Says touch your friends nose” and Carter ran across to touch Laini’s nose.  Smooth move buddy!! :)

It’s been fun hearing about his new friend.  We are going to get together for a play date sometime soon.  I have to get to know the girl that my son has eyes for!! :)

Hilton Head September 21, 2007

Last week we took a trip to Hilton Head Island with all of my family.  Our good friends from Houston were so wonderful to let us stay at their house on the beach.  Lets just say that the house was GORGEOUS!!  This was our second time to stay there.  It is right on the beach with a pool in the back.  The decor in the home is beautiful.  I wouldn’t change a thing about it and that’s not something I say often!! :)

We were there for 8 nights!  It was a blast but maybe a little too long with two little ones. :)   We had a lot of fun on the beach.  Carter loved playing in the sand but not in the water.  I was kind of surprised because he LOVES being in water.  He hated getting the salt water in his mouth.  Cammie didn’t like the sand at all.  She had to sit on a mat the whole time because she’s a little diva.  Whenever sand got near her she got this funny little prissy face.  My little city girl!! :)   At night, we went out looking for crabs.  Carter loved chasing them but I got scared because they were so fast.  I was afraid they would crawl up my leg!!

On Monday we had our family portraits taken.  They turned out great!  We should get them in six weeks.  I will post them when I get them.  We also went to the light house which was one of Carter’s favorites.  One of my favorite things we did was going to paint pottery at the Art Cafe.  We made some “works” of art!  I was actually pretty proud of my art work.  Carter loved painting.  I will take pictures of our pottery and post them later.

It was a great time of family fun and bonding.  Hilton Head is a great place to go to the beach with family.  We would highly recommend it to anyone!

BIG KUDOS TO THE COX FAMILY FOR SHARING THEIR HOME WITH US!!!  :)

Monday was my 29th birthday.  Yes, my last year in my 20’s!!  It’s SO crazy to think that I will be 30 next year.  I still feel like I’m 18!  But when I stop and think that I’ve been married almost eight years and have two kids I start to feel 29. :)

Sunday, my mom and dad threw me a raging party after church. :)   No one could come except them and my kids.  Oh well! HA!!  Mom made a strawberry cake and we had a good time.  Not even my man could come.  He was in NYC at the US Open.  One of his best friends, Sean, is a tennis coach at Michigan U and he got free tickets and hotel room.  Brad wasn’t going to go because it fell on my b-day but I told him that he had to go!  How could you pass that opportunity up??  Plus, I would have been the worst wife ever if I told him he couldn’t go.  The day he left, our credit card company called and said that there were some unusual transactions made and that I needed to verify them.  I figured that it was just because Brad was using it in NY.  Well, one of the transactions was for a florist and I thought that was odd so I called Brad.  He was SO mad at the credit card company because he was trying to surprise me with flowers!  Pretty funny that they gave the surprise away!  He also ordered me some packets of the Frrrozen Hot Chocolate mix from Serendipity in NYC.  That was one of our favorite stops we made on our trip there in March.  That was so thoughtful of him.  He’s good to me!!  It was a great birthday and I am REALLY looking forward to the big 3-0!!! :)

Brad’s mom and dad, Mark and Carol, sent me these little owls as one of my b-day gifts.  The last time they were here I mentioned how much I love little owls and Carol said that she had some that Mark got in Japan about thirty years ago.   One for each of them and their kids.  I absolutely love them!  I got teary eyed when I opened them.  They are so cute, it looks like our little family!!

First Day of School September 6, 2007

first-day-of-school.jpgToday was Carter’s first day of preschool.  He was SO excited to finally be a preschooler!  It was definately hard to wake up early and get both kids ready to leave by 8:45.  I know that sounds pretty lame to all you working moms!  I’m not used to waking up early because my kids (and me :) ) are late risers.  I definately feel like a real mom after packing a lunch and doing the carpool line!

Brad and I decided to take him in for his first day thinking that he might get scared if we just dropped him off.  Boy were we wrong!  He ran into class and dropped his bags so fast.  I had to make him put them back on so I could take a picture.  You can see how uninterested he is in taking a picture!  He’s making the funniest face!    Both of his teachers were looking forward to seeing him.  One of them said that her husband told her to stop talking about how much she was looking forward to seeing Carter.  She said she was going to buy some electric outlet safety plugs for their treasure box because of his outlet obsession!! :) That made me feel so good to know that they really care about him!  Right before I left, he asked me for a hug and kiss.  He was too happy to get sad about us leaving.  I’m glad that he can feel safe and secure when we leave him.

dsc01045-2.jpgAs we left our big preschooler, I became the baby and cried!  It was a lot harder than I thought it would be.  It just seems like yesterday that I was holding him as a baby.  It’s hard to think that he will never be at home with me all day, every day.  But, I am so excited for him to be able to learn and have fun with new friends.  Meanwhile, Cammie and I are excited to have some girl time together.  I could tell she missed her big bubby and she was super excited to see him after school.  I’m sure the time will fly by and she will be going to school before we know it!

When I picked Carter up, he climbed in the car and the first thing he said was “Did you miss me mommy?”  Doesn’t that break your heart??  He had a blast and told me all the fun things he learned.  We are so proud of our little preschooler!!
