Fall Festival, George and Snip-Snip! October 30, 2007

This past weekend was a pretty crazy one.  We had our church fall festival on Saturday and had a blast!  Carter and Cammie went dressed as Peter Pan and Tinkerbell.  They were TOO cute!!  They had so much fun playing in the jumpers and riding on the hayride.  All of their friends were there dressed up too.  It was a great day of fellowship with our friends.

You will notice that Brad isn’t in any of the pictures and there is a good reason for that.  He was at home resting because he had the dreaded Vasectomy done on Friday.  Yes, it’s official, our family is complete!  At least we hope so. :)   We always pictured our family with a boy and a girl and that’s how it’s worked out!  We’ve also thought that if we want to grow our family more, we would adopt.  Brad is doing well now, he just had to lay around all weekend.  The picture of him is with a cookie cake Ashley got for him, it says “Snip, Snip!”.  That cracked me up!!  I wonder what the ladies thought at the store!!  Thanks Ash!!

Also, you might notice that Carter had a little monkey named George in some of the pictures.  Well, he is the mascot for his preschool class.  Every week a different student is the “Top Banana” which means you are kind of the leader of the class.  This week it’s Carter.  The weekend before he got to bring George home with him.  Inside of him is a notebook where we were to write about what all he did with George that weekend.  We also got to put a picture of him and George in the book.   It was such a cute idea!  I loved reading about all the other kid’s time with George.  I think George had a pretty fun weekend and so did we!!

Brad’s Birthday and Pumpkin Patch October 30, 2007

October 19th was Brad’s 29th Birthday.  We left the kids with a babysitter and went downtown for dinner at a really cool restaurant.  There is a new area downtown called Atlantic Station and it has lots of shopping, dining and a movie theater.  There are also townhouses and condos there.  If we didn’t have kids, it would be a cool place to live.  We had a great time celebrating without the kiddos!

On Saturday, we took the kids to Kinsey Family Farm to look at all the pumpkins.  It was a beautiful day!  When we got there Carter got the biggest smile and yelled, “Laini!!”.  His little girlfriend from preschool was there!  You know we had to get some pics of them together.  Carter was funny trying to show off for her by attempting to lift the big pumpkins.  Typical male! :)

On Sunday, my mom had her famous roast lunch for us and a carrot cake for Brad.  My grandma Betty has been in town for a couple weeks so she was able to help celebrate.  It’s been wonderful spending time with her.  This is the first time I have seen her since my Grandad Doyle passed away.  She seems to be doing well and I know this trip helped lift her spirits.  She loves seeing her little great grandkids.  What a wonderful weekend we had!

Fun at the Fair!! October 17, 2007

Last Thursday we went to the county fair and had a blast!!  When we planned on going, we thought we would go and watch the rides and just hang out.  We didn’t realize that Carter would be big enough to ride so many rides.  He was so much fun to watch!  We ended up having to go to the ATM half way through because we needed more tickets for the rides!  We weren’t surprised that he wasn’t scared because he loves a thrill!  He’s like his mommy, I’ve never been scared of any roller-coasters.  Cammie had fun just watching Carter and looking at all the lights.  She seemed a little sad that she had to stay in her stroller.  :(

While we were there, we ran into some of our friends from church.  It was great because Carter got to ride some rides with his little girlfriends.  We had a lot fun people watching and it was a lot more family oriented than I thought it would be.  Three hours and eighty dollars later we finally left the fair, much to the disappointment of our son.  He got the saddest little tears and said “bye-bye fair”. :(   We told him we will go back every year!  That seemed to give him some hope!! :)

Here is a video of Carter on his first roller-coaster ride!  Sorry, it might make you a little dizzy.  He looks like he’s having the time of his life!  Kiley is so cute when she holds her arms up!  She’s a little dare devil!

Fall Fun! October 8, 2007

It’s fall and I am so happy because it’s my favorite time of the year!  It doesn’t feel very “fall-like” yet, but I think it’s going to start this week.  I’m crossing my fingers!!  One day it felt really nice out so we decided to have a picnic at the park.  We had so much fun playing and watching all of the kids playing soccer.  Carter said that he wanted to put on a uniform and play soccer.  It’s just a matter of time before he’s going to have to join a little team.  Cammie is walking EVERYWHERE!!!  I can’t keep up with her!  Her favorite thing right now is pushing her baby stroller around the house.  She loves babies and baby dolls.  When we are out she points to all the babies and says “beh-beh”.  It’s so cute because she doesn’t realize that she’s a baby too!

On Thursday, we went over to our friends house to watch our Cats play the Gamecocks in football.  We have been so excited because Kentucky actually has a good team this year.  They NEVER have a good football team.  We had so much fun with Chuck, Allison, Audrey and baby Lydia.  Carter and Audrey have been good buddys for a long time.  She’s his church girlfriend!!  They had fun cheering for their teams.  Well, Kentucky lost the game but it was fun anyways!

This week is the county fair where there are sure to be some interesting characters in attendance.  You know we will be there to see them in all their “mullet” glory!! HA!  We are taking the kids on Thursday night.  It’s sure to be some good ole country fun!  We have been before and it is quite an impressive production.  It’s so much fun and I always look forward to it!

This next Saturday, Brad and I are going to Six Flags with some friends.  We are excited because we haven’t been to an amusement park in years!  It will be fun to get out there and act like kids again.  I just hope we don’t hurt our necks or something else on the rides since we are getting so old!
