Yesterday Carter had his first date! Well, it was actually a play-date but it was still a “date”! His little girlfriend, Laini, from school had us over to her house for lunch yesterday. It was an early release day so we thought it would be fun to hang out. It was Pajama and Teddy Bear Parade day so they got to have a date in their PJ’s. Carter and Laini have so much fun playing together. Their teacher’s said that yesterday Carter got a funny little look on his face and then he gave Laini a kiss on the cheek. I guess he was just working him self up for the kiss! They said they are calling him “Little Romeo”! Oh no!! I’m hoping this isn’t a glimpse of the future! If he’s anything like his dad was, we won’t have to worry too much! HA!
It’s funny how all the kids at this age talk about marrying each other. They call each other princes and princesses. Carter told me he was going to marry me and I would be the princess and he would be the kingdom. I guess he meant the king! He has always been a bit of a smooth talker. He’s always telling me that I’m beautiful and skinny (HA!) or that I smell good or he likes my jewelry. He knows how to work a girl!! It’s pretty obvious why I like having him around! He’s a real esteem booster!! But Soon he will think girls are gross and have cooties so for now it’s cute seeing him be the “romeo”.
Last Friday night we went to a High School basketball game. They were playing the 4th best team in the country so we thought it would be fun. Also, Brad is really trying to brainwash Carter with as much basketball as possible. I hate to say it, but I don’t think it’s sinking in!! The entire game Carter either laid on the floor behind us or ran around in the open area with Cammie. Brad tried to get him interested but he just wasn’t into it. Maybe he’s still too young. Cammie seemed more interested in the game. She really liked the band. We had a lot of fun eating candy and cheering for the team even though they lost!
Well, I’ve become obsessed with a new workout craze. It’s called Zumba. It is a dance aerobic tybe class that is latin inspired. It also has some indian and hip-hop dance too I have been going to the classes at the YMCA and it is a blast!! Some of my friends and I started going a few weeks ago and I’m hooked. I’ve never had so much fun working out! A lot of the girls in the class wear coin skirts over their workout clothes to get the shaking sound effect. There are all kinds of women in the class: young, old, coordinated and uncoordinated!
I just wanted to let you all know about Zumba because you might enjoy it! Here is a video that the Today show had about Zumba.
It snowed all day on Saturday! Can you believe, two times in one week??!! This time we really got to have fun playing in the snow. We made a Nascar redneck snowman! We had so much fun playing and enjoying the day. Everything was coated in snow and it was beautiful! It’s all been melting today. That’s the nice thing about the weather here, it snows one day and then it warms back up the next! It’s fun to have snow but not every day because people down here don’t know how to live or drive in it!
Wednesday night we got 2-3 inches of snow!! It was SO beautiful. We came out of church and all the kids were going crazy. The snowflakes were HUGE!! For all you who live up north in the snow, don’t laugh at us southerners for freaking out at the slightest bit of snow! We don’t know what to do with ourselves when it snows or ices. All the schools were cancelled for the next day and there wasn’t even any ice on the roads.
We let the kids play out in the snow until 9:00 that night. Carter LOVED it and Cammie didn’t like it at first. After a while, she didn’t want to go inside! Brad and I stayed up late watching a movie that night thinking that he wouldn’t be able to drive in to work. I was let down when I woke up and he had gone to work because the roads were fine.
Now the snow is all melted, but I just heard that we have snow in the forcast for tomorrow morning!! Bring it on!!!
Last weekend was a very lazy one. We decided to take it easy and hang out at home. Carter and Cammie had fun “playing” the Wii with us. They really get into it! Carter is actually pretty good at boxing but can’t quite figure out most of the other games. It was nice to just get some quality family time! Here is the link to my web album with all the pictures from the weekend.
Just wanted to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Amy! Brad’s sister is 28 today!! Getting close to the big 3-0! This card is SO cool and it was free! We picked the pinata since Amy’s really a Spaniard. Born in Madrid 28 years ago! WE LOVE YOU AMES!!
Eight years ago on January 1st Brad and I tied the knot! What a wonderful and exciting day that was!! It seems like it was just yesterday, time really flies when you’re having fun and we have had some fun!! I really couldn’t have asked for a better marriage. Brad and I have been so blessed to have such a good relationship. We truly are best friends. Brad is such a wonderful husband and I wouldn’t change a thing about him. He treats me and the kids like royalty! I always knew he would be a good dad but I couldn’t have imagined that he would be THIS good! He always puts his family before himself and sometimes it makes me mad because he won’t do anything for just him! I’m SO happy to be married to THE best man in the world!!
Well, last Wednesday we went down to Buckhead for the night. Thanks mom and dad for watching the kiddos! We saw two movies in one day–that was awesome! We used to do that back in the pre-kids era. We ate dinner at a restaurant called Twist and had the best Mac n Cheese we’ve ever had! We did some shopping and just had a nice time alone. Brad surprised me by telling me he was buying me a Nikon D40x camera!! My first digital SLR!!! YEAH!! I’m going to take some photography classes, who knows, maybe I can have another side job someday!!
Thanks Brad for a wonderful eight years, I can’t wait for the next eight! I love you!!!!
Our 1st picture together, we only knew each other for one week!!
Well, Christmas was a few weeks ago and I haven’t had the time to post. Thanks Natalie for requesting an update, you made me finally sit down to write! We had a wonderful Christmas and New year. We started some new Jones Family traditions that we hope will last for years to come.
Christmas eve was a lot of fun. Just the four of us stayed home and got ready for Santa’s arrival. Carter helped me make red and green waffles for dinner (Brad’s cute idea), they were SO good! Then we all decorated cookies for Santa and watched The Polar Express for the 50th time in two weeks! I guess that’s our new holiday movie. Carter could not go to bed that night, he was WAY too excited! Brad ended up sleeping in his room for a while to get him settled down. It was so fun to feel that magic and joy that Christmas brings out in the children. Cammie had fun decorating the cookies.
Christmas morning was so much fun! Carter woke up SO early!! We let him go down stairs before Cammie woke up. He was excited to see that Santa had eaten all the cookies he made. Once Cammie was awake the presents began. The favorites for Carter were his Geotrax, castle, kitchen and Spongebob doodle board. Cammie’s favorites were her princess ride-on, kitchen, Ariel and Princess tent. The week before Christmas we went through all the kids toys and gave away LOTS of toys to Goodwill. It’s a good thing because they probably go too many new ones! I got Brad a few gifts, even though he told me not too. I surprised him with a 160 gig ipod, a game for his Wii and a fart machine! I think he was most excited about the fart machine. What’s funny is that my mom gave him one that night too!!! That must say something about him! Brad’s gifts to me were three facial/massage combo treatments, ipod nano and a membership to the YMCA. I had been asking for the Y membership for months. I’ve been going almost everyday to step and dance classes there, it’s SO much fun! We had a wonderful Christmas morning!
Christmas night we went to my parents house to have dinner and open presents with them. My brother Casey and his family were there too. We had so much fun watching the kids open presents. Dinner was wonderful and like usual we ate way too much! My mom always gives us clues for presents and we have to go around the house to get them. Casey and Mary Beth surprised me with 4 hours of babysitting from our favorite babysitter, Jilli! What a great idea!!
The day after Christmas we went to Stone Mountain with all the family. It was such a beautiful place to go during Christmas. Every tree and building was lit up so perfectly. They had a train ride around the mountain and lights along the way, a 4-d showing of the Polar Express (our favorite), a parade and laser/firework show. I think Stone Mountain is going to be a tradition at Christmas.
Fun at Stone Mountain!!
What a wonderful Christmas we had this year! It is SO much fun to have children to share this special day with. Carter is really starting to understand why we celebrate Christmas. He loved reading his Christmas book that told about Jesus’ birth. I know we will have more wonderful Christmas celebrations to come. We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! Here are some videos of our Christmas morning and a link to our web album.
